The new version of the AUTO.PROTECT module from Storopack's portfolio for automated packaging processes uses innovative AI to take padding in cartons to a new level.

Metzingen, September 2025. The protective packaging specialist is expanding its portfolio for automated packaging processes and optimizing fully automated padding in cartons with AUTO.PROTECT. The efficient module from the Working Automation division can be used in a variety of ways. Regardless of whether voids need to be filled, goods padded or fixed in the carton: AUTO.PROTECT uses a vision system to detect the voids in the box and uses an AI-supported application to determine the correct packing scenario. The system records the cardboard format and transmits the data to the intelligent software. The AI then decides where and how much padding is required and how it needs to be inserted to ensure optimum protection for the product. This results in the exact amount of protective packaging, such as air or paper padding, that is needed. The box remains unchanged in place between image capture, processing, and the actual padding - a decisive advantage, as the determined voids cannot be altered by slipping goods.

Customers choose from smart modules

The padding is inserted into the box in the correct position fully automatically. Top fill, bottom fill and block & brace are all possible. Customers also have the option of integrating quality control via the vision system. This means that the packaging scenario is also analyzed at the end of the run and an assessment is made as to whether additional material is required - until the goods are optimally protected.

The packaging specialists facilitate the selection process of the appropriate protective packaging - individually tailored to the respective application requirements. Customers can choose between the new standard variant for AUTO.PROTECT or a customized solution for their application. The result: automatically, perfectly protected shipping goods.
